Visa extended
Huseyn may continue to stay in Salzburg
Deported, deported and back for almost a year! The young table tennis ace's student visa has been extended.
"I've won table tennis tournaments and my school report fits. I simply feel at home here." Huseyn Salimov has settled in very well after his return to Salzburg. Recently, the native Azerbaijani received a letter from the authorities. His student visa has been extended - Huseyn can therefore continue to stay in the city of Mozart.
A few months ago, such news seemed completely unthinkable. As a reminder: Huseyn and his family came to Salzburg in 2016. They integrated in the best possible way. Table tennis ace Huseyn attended the Campus Mirabell secondary school and showed off his skills at the UTTC Salzburg. In February 2022, police officers picked up the Salimovs from the apartment they shared. They were deported with no prospect of return. Since then, friends and companions have been fighting for Huseyn's return with a student visa. With success!
The youngster has already completed two internships
The teenager has been back in Salzburg since last April. "He is living with his host family and has already completed two internships," says his companion and table tennis official Walter Windischbauer. In the coming school year, Huseyn would like to attend the polytechnic - and then start vocational training. Windischbauer: "We are looking into converting his student visa into one for professionals."
