U19 team keeps its chance of advancing in the European Championship qualifiers
Austria's U19 national team has kept its chance of a ticket to the European Championship finals in Northern Ireland this summer. The ÖFB selection won the Elite Round mini-tournament against hosts Slovenia 2:0 in Lendava on Saturday, thus registering their first win at the second attempt.
Spain (4) became the new Group 1 leaders with a 2-1 win over Kosovo (3). The Kosovars had beaten Austria 1-0 in their opener on Wednesday.
Trummer scores a brace
For coach Oliver Lederer's team, 18-year-old Liefering attacker Tim Trummer was the match-winner with a brace (31st, 85th). Trummer and Co. now have to beat Spain in Gornja Radgona on Tuesday and hope that second-placed Kosovo do not beat Slovenia (1). Only the group winners will make it through to the European Championship.
