Man stabbed ex-wife several times in the neck with a knife

A 41-year-old Hungarian man allegedly stabbed his ex-wife several times in the neck with a knife in Breitenbrunn (Burgenland) on Thursday evening. After the bloody deed, the man fled - the police are looking for him. 

The suspect is said to have left a farewell letter before fleeing, police reported on Friday. The victim, the 33-year-old ex-wife of the wanted man, was seriously injured in the knife attack. She was flown to hospital by emergency helicopter. There is currently no danger to the 33-year-old's life.

Search for the suspect continues
In the meantime, the search for the Hungarian man has been unsuccessful. The manhunt will continue on Friday. Officers from the Burgenland Criminal Police Office, the Eisenstadt Criminal Investigation Department and the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG), drones, police dogs and other patrols were involved in the large-scale manhunt on Thursday. They are investigating attempted murder.

According to the police, a neighbor called the emergency services at around 6 p.m. on Thursday evening and witnessed the attack.
