Stefan Rieser has done it! The 25-year-old secured his ticket for the 2024/25 World Cup in the final downhill competition of the European Cup season. A 20th place at the final in Kvitfjell on Thursday was enough.

From Stefan Rieser's (WSV Dorfgastein) point of view, the last downhill race in the European Cup went down the drain. The 25-year-old only finished in 20th place in Kvitfjell, 1.25 seconds behind.

Nevertheless, he had reason to celebrate in Norway: in third place in the downhill classification, the man from Salzburg secured a ticket for the upcoming downhill season in the World Cup. But the man from Gastein was also lucky. Team colleague Manuel Traninger also messed up the downhill race and only came 21st, ultimately missing out on just six points from Rieser. The season winner of the downhill was the day's winner Livio Hiltbrandt ahead of his Swiss compatriot Lars Rösti.

Niklas Skaardal (SK Hallein) did not finish in the points in 51st place. Lukas Passrugger (SK Kleinarl) did not start.

Viktoria Bürgler also finished 20th in the women's event. Sophie Fischer, Rieser's club colleague from WSV Dorfgastein, crashed, but crossed the finish line on her own shortly afterwards.
