Deer jumped in front of car and caused a rear-end collision

A 61-year-old car driver was surprised by a deer. The animal suddenly jumped onto the road. The driver braked abruptly, which led to a rear-end collision because the driver behind him was unable to react quickly enough.

On Wednesday evening, a serious traffic accident occurred on the B164, the Hochkönigstraße, in Pinzgau. A 61-year-old Slovenian national was driving his small truck from Maria Alm in the direction of Saalfelden.

The accident happened at around 20:00 when a deer suddenly jumped in front of the small truck from the right. Despite braking abruptly, the driver was unable to prevent a collision and the deer died as a result. A 21-year-old woman from Pinzgau was driving behind the truck, who was unable to stop in time due to the abrupt braking and crashed into the small truck.

Injured person taken to hospital
The woman from Pinzgau injured her hand in the collision. Her 17-year-old passenger and the truck driver involved suffered a shock. The injured driver and her passenger were taken to the Tauernklinikum Zell am See for further examination.

The clean-up work was carried out by the Saalfelden volunteer fire department. An alcohol test on the drivers was negative.
