Unfavorable forecast
Damaged slope! No downhill training in Saalbach
The World Cup course in Saalbach-Hinterglemm will be spared on Thursday! The second downhill training sessions for women and men scheduled for the Alpine Ski Finals week have been canceled due to the unfavorable weather forecast.
"The aim of everyone here is to get the four races through over the long weekend. That's why we have to protect the slope a bit," said Peter Gerdol, the FIS Chief Race Director for the women.
Two "super good" training sessions on Wednesday
The clear night and the slightly colder temperatures made two "super good" training sessions possible on Wednesday, which was not expected. Now they want to do everything they can to hold the two super-Gs on Friday as well as the women's downhill on Saturday and the men's downhill on Sunday.
"We will set the super-G as early as possible tomorrow and work on the line with salt," said Gerdol. As soon as there is more rain, the crews will be withdrawn from the mountain to prevent any further problems.
