Family auctions Michael Schumacher’s luxury watches
Several watches from the private collection of former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher will be auctioned in Geneva in May. These include an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph in white gold, which was specially commissioned by his former mentor at Ferrari, Jean Todt, the auction house Christie's announced on Wednesday.
Another wristwatch - model F.-P.-Journe-Vagabondage-1 - has a dial in the red Ferrari color with symbols of his seven world championship titles and a gift dedication on the gold movement.
The auction house did not want to say exactly how many watches from the Schumacher estate will be auctioned on May 13. According to Christie's, the auction marks the 30th anniversary of Schumacher's first world championship title in 1994. The record Formula 1 world champion was seriously injured in a skiing accident at the end of 2013 and has not appeared in public since.
