Stabbing in refugee home in Vorarlberg
An argument between two Syrian youths in a refugee shelter in Hohenems (Vorarlberg) ended in bloodshed. One of the two opponents grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his victim several times.
On Tuesday morning, an argument between two Syrian 16-year-olds escalated in the room of a refugee shelter in Hohenems. The two boys got into an argument over a pair of sneakers. The argument turned violent, one of the two hit the other with his fists and the argument moved from the room to the street.
There, one of the brawlers suddenly took out a kitchen knife and stabbed his opponent several times. The victim suffered injuries to his hip, stomach and thigh as a result of the attack. Fortunately, the 16-year-old was not critically injured. After initial treatment by the police and emergency doctor, he was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Investigation underway
The perpetrator was arrested by the police in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene. He is now being investigated on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Once the initial investigations have been completed, the public prosecutor's office will decide whether to commit the suspect to Feldkirch prison.
Brawlers were only guests
Incidentally, the two brawlers were not residents of the refugee accommodation, they were just visiting there when the altercation started.
