A Styrian care service manager allegedly not only stole tips, but also placed private orders at the company's expense. The story caused a stir in Upper Styria and has now come to an end.

A year ago, rumors were already circulating in Upper Styria about the nursing manager of a retirement home, as we reported. She is alleged to have embezzled patient and employee funds by pocketing tips instead of putting them in the designated cash box.

After some time - repeated attempts by the police to make contact with the management failed for the time being - the Leoben public prosecutor's office opened an investigation against her.

Settlement in court
Things got even worse for the woman, who had always vehemently denied all accusations: her suspension was followed by summary dismissal. She did not put up with this and called in her lawyers. It is now clear that the criminal investigation against her has been dropped. "Both because of the statute of limitations, but also because there were divergent witness statements regarding the tips," says Viktoria Steinecker, spokesperson for the Leoben public prosecutor's office.

The discontinuation of the criminal proceedings shows that the accusations were unjustified and that my client always behaved properly.

The care worker also took civil action against her former employer because she felt that the dismissal was unjustified. In this case, both parties agreed on a settlement, an amicable termination of the employment relationship and confidentiality regarding further details. Incidentally, the managing director at the time is no longer in office.
