Next bloody crime: Man (20) stabbed again

The series of violent acts in Favoriten is not slowing down. After a youth allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old in the Reumannplatz area on Sunday, the next attack took place on Monday evening. Once again a man (20) was attacked with a knife. This time the attacker was caught.

Just a few hours after Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) took part in a special police operation at the scene of the incident and presented the newly founded task force to combat youth crime (EJK), another young man was stabbed and seriously injured at Reumannplatz. The victim had stab wounds to his upper body, according to the Vienna police.

The professional rescue team treated the injured man at Reumannplatz at around 9.30 pm. "The victim's life is not in danger", the police confirmed on Tuesday. The suspect - a Syrian aged just 18 - is said to have been apprehended by police officers at Keplerplatz a short time later. He was provisionally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Recent events have shaken the 10th district of Vienna. Gangs of youths are currently causing a stir there. On Sunday, a 21-year-old man was attacked by a group of youths in the Reumannplatz area. One member of the group is said to have stabbed him. The victim suffered several cuts and stab wounds.
