Fire department: 30 people and 42 animals rescued

The figures presented by the Villach main fire station at its annual general meeting are impressive. They are also proud of the high proportion of women and the strong youth team.

The Villach main fire station dealt with 1435 operations in 2023, including 580 fires and 855 technical operations. In the process, 30 people and 42 animals were rescued.

The firefighters covered 31,998 kilometers and volunteered 37,721 hours for operations, on-call duty and training.

The strong team has 163 members: 108 active members, eleven veterans, five reservists and three other members. The fire department is proud of its 20 young people aged 10 to 15 and the high proportion of women: 23 women serve at the main fire station.

16 members are guests who are in Villach on business and support the station.

125 firefighters attended 45 training courses in the previous year. There were also 51 exercises and a good 100 training courses.

At the annual general meeting in the Parkhotel, young comrades were also sworn in and numerous firefighters were promoted and honored for 20, 25, 35, 40, 45 and even 50 years of membership.
