This brings back memories of the most recent European Championship in January, also in Germany, when Austria wrestled a 22:22 win from the hosts, but missed out on a victory in the final, which probably cost them an even better final result.

The eighth-placed team at the European Championships must now make up for this victory today in order to secure their Olympic ticket for Paris. A draw would be too little due to the fewer goals scored with the same goal difference.
