ÖBB route changes
700-ton crane lifts bridge into place in Lend
In the coming weeks, the new ÖBB railroad bridge in Lend will be lifted into place by a 700-ton crane. This will result in changes to the S3 timetable in Pinzgau from Monday.
Work on the railroad bridges over the Salzach in Lend is entering its final phase. Following the renewal of the substructures, the new steel bridge for the second track will be gradually lifted into its future position and assembled over the next few weeks. The next construction phase for a modern railroad infrastructure will also entail temporary changes to the timetable from Monday.
Two tracks of the Salzburg-Tyrolean Railway run along the river in the narrow Salzach Valley in Pinzgau. At Lend, the Salzach has been spanned by two 60-meter-long bridges for over 100 years. Work on the complete renewal of the bridges is currently in full swing. While the bridge for the first track was already completed and put into operation in May 2023, work on the second bridge is now also entering the final phase.
As already communicated at the beginning of the year, the next phase of route modernization will involve a temporary adjustment to the S3 timetables from 18 March until the new bridge is completed in June. The departure times of individual trains between Saalfelden and Bischofshofen will have to be brought forward or individual trains will have to be operated as rail replacement services. Passengers are requested to take note of the special timetable, which is available at oebb.at and via the timetable information service on 05-1717. Details of the timetable changes until June can be found here or in the ÖBB app Scotty.
