Mikl-Leitner also criticizes the candidacy of the KPÖ

The electoral success of the Communists in the city of Mozart has had nationwide repercussions. As reported, former ÖVP Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel criticized the Communists' candidacy. Now the governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, is following suit. The party's participation in the election was "irresponsible". 

When former ÖVP Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel speaks, people all over Austria still prick up their ears. Just at the beginning of the week, he sharply criticized the electoral success of Kay-Michael Dankl 's communists in Salzburg and other candidacies under the "label or brand" KPÖ. "This is unbelievable", said Schüssel. You shouldn't even use such a term nowadays, the brand is "toxic."

Now the governor of Lower Austria is following up. "First of all, I would like to thank Wolfgang Schüssel for his clear words. We need more of them. It is important that we uphold the memory of the horrific regime and the atrocities of Nazi rule.

According to the head of the country, the Communist Party does not stand for a charming left-wing alternative. The functionaries of the Communist Party are not naive little children, she said, but are deliberately seeking to be associated with regimes such as the GDR, the Soviet Union or the People's Republic of China. "I consider it irresponsible to appear and campaign in Austria in the name of this party."
