Final in Saalbach: Shiffrin has made her decision!

Now it's official: Mikaela Shiffrin will skip the giant slalom in the World Cup final in Saalbach and focus entirely on the slalom. The 96-time World Cup winner made the announcement in a video message.

"We had a very good giant slalom session, but we're running out of time to make progress," explained the US American on Instagram on Thursday.

Looking forward to the last dance
The full focus is therefore on the slalom. "I'm really excited and looking forward to pushing myself out of the starting gate in the very last slalom."

Regardless of the result on Saturday, Shiffrin will end the season with the small crystal globe in the slalom. The 29-year-old had to withdraw from the race for the overall World Cup due to her injury-related break.
