Once again, snooker national champion Florian Nüßle fell just short of securing a ticket for the World Snooker Tour. At the Q-Tour play-off in Sarajevo, the man from Salzburg by choice only failed in the semi-finals. He took his elimination in good sporting spirit.

Two wins and the ticket would have been there. But unfortunately it didn't happen. State snooker champion Florian Nüßle was eliminated in the semi-finals after a strong 5:2 quarter-final victory. Welshman Duane Jones defeated the Styrian, who lives in Salzburg, 6:3. In addition to a win against Jones, Nüßle would also have needed a win in the final to achieve his major goal of promotion to the World Snooker Tour.

Nüßle got off to a very good start against Jones today. Austria's number 1 took the first three frames 67-34, 73-30 and, supported by a 64 break, 87-36 and seemed to be on course for the final. However, the Welshman then lost the next two frames (39-75, 19-67).

Congratulations on Facebook
"The game is so tough and cruel. I felt mentally strong and played well. Sometimes a higher power just doesn't make things go your way. Duane is a great guy and deserves to be on the tour like many other players. I wish him all the best for the final tomorrow," Nüßle commented on his elimination on Facebook and showed great respect for his opponent's performance.
