Cyclist discovers corpse in Vienna
A cyclist made a gruesome discovery in Vienna on Thursday: a body was floating on the surface of the water near the Nussdorf lock. So far, there are said to be no "obvious indications of any outside culpability".
The man alerted the police and the water police, ambulance and fire department then arrived alongside the police. The body - said by the police to be an 81-year-old woman - was recovered.
Cause of death still unclear
"At present, there are no obvious indications of any external cause", said police spokesman Mattias Schuster. A forensic autopsy has been suggested.
Passport found
Further information on the cause of death is still unknown. The woman has been identified on the basis of personal documents, among other things. She had apparently been carrying a passport.
