"Citybeats" posse
“Can sleep well again”
Neighbors sounded the alarm, the "Krone" reported! The situation around the "Citybeats" nightclub recently escalated. From now on, a massive fence will keep night owls out.
Is the situation finally calming down? Johannes Lackner hopes so, for himself and his family. "We'll soon be able to sleep peacefully and soundly again," he believes, looking at the recently installed barred fence next to his home. Lackner lives in Badergässchen - and therefore in the immediate vicinity of the "Citybeats" nightclub. The situation around the bar has become increasingly tense in recent months - as reported by the "Krone" newspaper. Night owls shout around, fight, take and sell drugs. Partygoers urinate outside front doors and litter the old town.
The dismal highlight: in the fall, strangers even kicked in the front door of Johannes Lackner's house and hunted down two tenants. "We complained about the noise at three o'clock in the morning and then everything escalated," recalls tenant Jakob Bode. He managed to save himself in his apartment with his last ounce of strength and escaped with a scare.
After a long back and forth and several reports in the "Krone" newspaper, the city politicians reacted. Mayor Harald Preuner (ÖVP) approved the closure of Sterngässchen and Badergässchen between Griesgasse and Getreidegasse. The first fence is already in place, a larger one in front of Griesgasse will follow shortly. The costs for this will be borne by the owner of the Sternbräu.
A green tarpaulin on the fence becomes a pee barrier
"That should put most people off, hopefully nobody will climb over it," says Lackner. Even in the cold season, the situation would hardly have eased. "We've already had pools of blood in front of the house," he says angrily.
Lackner himself has covered his fences with green tarpaulins. "Now no one can climb up and urinate on me so easily."
