Disappointing Polar Bears end season early
That's it! The Zell Polar Bears are eliminated in the quarter-finals against the Wipptal Broncos. After a strong basic round, the Pinzgau team disappointed on all fronts in the play-offs and went on an unwanted early vacation. Meanwhile, the Red Bull Juniors have one foot in the semi-finals.
Over and out! The Zell Eisbären were eliminated from the Alps Hockey League in the quarter-finals with a 4-0 loss to the Wipptal Broncos. The 2:3 home defeat in front of almost 1900 spectators ended the Pinzgau team's season yesterday. Captain and scorer Hubert Berger was very depressed: "It's difficult to put into words so soon after the game. We are extremely disappointed, we would have expected more." But he recognized that the performance was not good enough: "But in the end you have to say: We weren't good enough, not hungry enough, Sterzing wanted it more. Unfortunately, I can't say much at the moment, I'm just disappointed."
The basic round was still excellent from the Eisbären's point of view. After 30 games, they were in second place with 61 points. In the Master Round, they began to slump, winning only two games.
Juniors almost through
Meanwhile, the Red Bull Juniors took a big step towards the semi-finals. After a 3:2 win, they now lead the series against the Unterland Cavaliers 3:1. Ritten still have to be patient, losing 2:5 away at Bregenzerwald and, like the Juniors, still need a win.
