“Fire free” is the motto for Easter 2024

A blazing fire is part of Easter. Applications for lighting the bonfire must be submitted in good time. 

It won't be long before the Easter bunny knocks on the door. And what should not be missing? The traditional Easter bonfire. Just like last year, these are permitted again this year. In the night from Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday, piles may be lit throughout Carinthia to officially drive out winter and ring in spring.

Register in advance
To ensure that the festivities run smoothly, there are a few important points to follow. An Easter bonfire must be duly registered with the relevant municipality at least four days before it is burned. In addition, only biogenic materials may be burned - i.e. untreated, plant-based materials such as straw, wood, reeds, tree and grass cuttings or leaves.

What else must be observed
Furthermore, the distance to buildings and flammable objects must be maintained, the fire must be constantly supervised and must not cause any smoke or odor nuisance and before lighting the fire, attention must be paid to the presence of small animals in the fuel pile. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, the fire must be extinguished immediately. In an emergency, call the fire department on "122".
