8700 euros lost to supposed daughter

A broken cell phone prompted a man from Pongau (57) to transfer a lot of money to his supposed daughter. The fraudsters contacted her by text message and pretended to be in an emergency.

Her cell phone had water damage, so she was writing from a strange number. A 57-year-old man from Pongau was deceived by fraudsters with this text message. His "daughter" needed money to pay bills, but could no longer access the data she needed to do so.

The man from Pongau transferred money a total of four times over the following two days and lost more than 8,700 euros.
