Bildstein/Hussl: “Weak and frustrating”

Keanu Prettner/Jakob Flachberger finished the 49er World Championship off Lanzarote as the best Austrian team in twelfth place. Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl came 20th, the gold medal went to Erwan Fischer/Clément Pequin.

"We still need to work on our tactics and speed. We don't need to hide our speed in the gold fleet, but in order to win races against the world's best, we still need to improve," said Prettner.

Bildstein/Hussl, who won the Olympic quota place for Austria at the 2023 World Championships outside The Hague, were bitterly disappointed. "It's weak and frustrating that we're not anywhere near the top of the world or in the medal race. Now we're hoping that we can make the right improvements and adaptations by the summer," Bildstein was quoted as saying in an association press release.
