Car with Czech vacationers threatened to crash
A Czech vacationer skidded in his car on the slippery road in Rennweg am Katschberg on Saturday morning, whereupon the car threatened to crash into a ditch. Three fire departments were involved in the rescue operation.
The 67-year-old Czech was driving on a steep access road on the Katschberghöhe at around 10 a.m. on Saturday when he skidded on the slippery road and crashed into a car standing on the side of the road driven by a 70-year-old vacationer from the Murtal district in Styria.
"The collision caused the Czech's car to skid around the semi-axle and slide to the right-hand side of the road, where the vehicle threatened to plunge over the approximately five-metre steep embankment into a ditch," said the police. The 67-year-old's wife and two friends were also in the vehicle.
Holidaymakers remained in the car
The Rennweg, Katschberg and Oberdorf volunteer fire departments secured the car, which was in danger of crashing, together with the four occupants, who were still in the vehicle when the emergency services arrived and were subsequently able to leave it unharmed. After being rescued, the Czechs were able to continue their journey home. The car of the man from Murtal, who fortunately also remained unharmed, had to be towed away due to the severe damage.
