The thrilling clash between Liverpool FC and Manchester City on matchday 28 of the English Premier League failed to produce a winner. John Stones put City ahead, Alexis Mac Allister scored a penalty to make the final score 1-1. Liverpool missed the winning goal several times. City goalkeeper Ederson had to come off injured. 

Liverpool and Manchester City drew 1-1 in the English Premier League clash on Sunday. As a result, the "Reds" kept the defending champions one point clear in the 28th round. The two teams also drew 1-1 in the first head-to-head match of the season in Manchester. Arsenal emerged as the new leaders, with the Gunners, who are level on points with Liverpool, having already beaten Brentford 2-1 on Saturday.

The 30th and possibly final coaching duel between Jürgen Klopp and Josep Guardiola lived up to its promise. In a fast-paced game, the visitors took the lead midway through the first half thanks to a successful corner between Kevin de Bruyne and goalscorer John Stones (23').

Liverpool fail to score again
Liverpool, who will have to make do without the retiring Klopp from next season, equalized five minutes after the break. A back pass from Nathan Aké that was too short forced goalkeeper Ederson, who was later substituted injured, to foul Darwin Nuñez. Alexis Mac Allister, world champion with Argentina in Qatar 2022, scored safely from the spot.

Both teams then had chances to score the winner, with substitute Belgian Jérémy Doku missing the best one for Manchester City when he hit the inside of the post in the 89th minute. The Citizens are now unbeaten in 21 competitive matches. Liverpool have won seven of their eight games.
