At the absolute peak
Wild speculation about ski star Lara Gut-Behrami
Lara Gut-Behrami is at the absolute peak of her career - but now there is wild speculation about the Swiss skier's future. Will the 32-year-old be calling it a day after the current season?
The excitement is particularly great in her home country. Gut-Behrami had actually always emphasized that she wanted to continue until the 2025 World Championships. Is it all just tactics? "Maybe she's trying to avoid the questions about her retirement," says Tina Weirather, Gut-Behrami's former rival and now a TV expert, on the "Podcast am Pistenrand".
Words that cause a stir. Weirather adds to this in an interview with "Blick". "As an athlete, you don't particularly like being asked about retiring. That's why it's certainly clever to give a longer time horizon," says the Liechtenstein native, who became a mother for the first time in January.
Before winning the bigcrystal globe
It's all just speculation at the moment - Gut-Behrami's focus is firmly on the big crystal globe. With six races still to go, Mikaela Shiffrin would already have to make up 385 points. Federica Brignone is 326 points behind in second place.
