The scandal surrounding FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem has been enriched by another aspect. The 62-year-old is said to have demanded that approval for the new race track in Las Vegas be refused. Formula 1 is still not at peace.

Following an initial scandal on Tuesday, the FIA boss is now to be accused of a further incident. Bin Sulayem allegedly demanded that the new race track in Las Vegas be refused approval by the world governing body.

This was not about genuine safety concerns; the reasons for banning the race could have been invented. In this case too, it initially remained unclear what the background to Ben Sulayem's intervention might have been.

Interference in Saudi Arabia
The first stir had already been reported earlier. The 62-year-old is accused of having interfered in a race. According to the BBC, Bin Sulayem had campaigned for the ten-second penalty imposed on Fernando Alonso in Saudi Arabia in 2023 to be revoked.

In any case, the FIA is investigating the incidents and a result is expected in four to six weeks. After the Hamilton changeover quake and the Horner case, the next topic is now causing unrest in the racing circus.
