Kölly proposal
Municipal leaders should waive their salaries
According to estimates, around 130,000 euros could be saved in Deutschkreutz and used for other projects
As reported, Lisa Reuter from Winden is waiving her salary as ÖVP municipal councillor for the time being in favor of various projects in the financially strapped municipality. The example of northern Burgenland has now also encouraged the Deutschkreutz LBL municipal board member Manfred Kölly to make an attempt to implement this in his home municipality. The former mayor says that he has already put forward such a proposal once before.
Money for kindergarten
In a new proposal, he is calling for the mayor, deputy mayor and municipal councillors to waive their salaries. Kölly estimates that this would effectively give the municipality 120,000 to 130,000 euros more per year. If you don't work, you shouldn't get anything either, Kölly criticizes the municipal leadership. Deutschkreutz has been at a standstill for three and a half years. The money saved should then be used, for example, to ensure that there is no increase in meal contributions due to the organic quota in the kindergarten. The attendance fee for municipal council meetings should continue to be paid.
Mayor reacts
The reaction of ÖVP mayor Andreas Kacsits is clear: "Manfred Kölly has had the opportunity to waive his salary for 20 years during his time as mayor." Calculated over this long period, this would probably have saved the municipality a million euros, according to the local leader. The LBL politician's suggestion was pure polemics. Apart from that, Kölly is free to voluntarily waive his salary.
