After mega investment

Desperate search for tenants for alpine huts

The Alpine Association is increasingly complaining about the lack of tenants for alpine huts. They are now urgently looking for an operator for the newly renovated Goldeckhütte in Spittal. Those responsible also want to make the hut more attractive in winter...

More than one million euros have been invested in the Goldeckhütte. "What we are particularly pleased about is that the hut has now also been made fit for winter," says Arnold Riebenbauer from the Carinthian Alpine Association. Just a few small things still need to be done and it would be ready to open for the coming summer season, which starts in May.

If only there wasn't a problem
"We don't have a tenant," says Riebenbauer desperately, hoping for interested parties. "Like every industry, we're also struggling with a shortage of skilled workers. And of course it's a tough job, but it's also wonderful," says the enthusiastic mountain guide.

Making alpine huts accessible in winter too
Another wish of the Alpine Association would be to make the hut accessible in winter: "Thanks to the renovation, it is now fit for winter, so we hope that the Goldeck operators will also include the Goldeckhütte in their winter plans. But first we need a landlord for the summer."
