Week will be unsettled

First 17 degrees, then it gets cooler again in the country

After a mild start to the week, the weather will soon become more unsettled and, above all, cooler. Meteorologists forecast 17 degrees on Monday. After that, the wintry temperatures will return. In the morning, temperatures could even drop back to minus degrees. 

According to the meteorologists at Geosphere Austria, a weak low-pressure system will bring thicker clouds at the beginning of the working week, especially in the west and south, as well as a few short, unproductive rain showers and snow showers above 1500 meters above sea level. Everywhere else, the sun will predominate during the day after the fog has lifted. Daytime highs could range from ten to even 17 degrees. 

Minus two degrees possible in the morning
Weak disturbances will bring some clouds and light precipitation in the form of showers during the day on Tuesday, mainly north of the main Alpine ridge in the morning and in the south and southeast in the afternoon. The wind will be brisk at times in the eastern Danube region. In the morning, temperatures will range from minus two to plus seven degrees, with daytime highs of seven to 15 degrees.

Sunny spells will be short-lived
Wednesday will remain mostly cloudy and sunny spells will be short-lived. In the far west and southwest, it will rain or snow for longer periods during the day. The snow line will be between 1000 and 1500 meters. As the day progresses, the precipitation will spread further eastwards and in the afternoon there will only be longer dry spells from Lower Austria to Burgenland. Temperatures of up to 13 degrees are possible during the day. 

Milder temperatures in the west
On Thursday, the weather will increasingly improve again. The day will start with widespread clouds and gloom. It may rain or snow a little along and for some time south of the main Alpine ridge. The snow line will be between 1400 and 1600 meters above sea level. There will be more sunshine and mild temperatures to the west. The afternoon will also be quite sunny from Salzburg eastwards. Early temperatures will reach minus one to plus five degrees, with daytime highs of six to 14 degrees.

Sunshine again on Friday
Friday will start south of the main Alpine ridge with a few patches of fog and residual clouds, which will be slow to clear. Otherwise, the sun will shine widely and only a few harmless clouds will pass by. The wind will be light from east to south. Daytime highs will rise again to up to 15 degrees.
