Missing hiker from Gastein (75) found dead

A missing local hiker was found dead in Dorfgastein today, Friday. The 75-year-old had not returned home from a hike he had set off on the previous day.

The man from Gastein had set off from home at midday on Thursday. In the early hours of Friday morning, his wife informed the police in Bad Hofgastein that her husband had not returned home from the hike.

The man was found a short time later by the emergency services next to a farm track. The doctor was only able to determine that the man had died. The public prosecutor's office ordered an autopsy.

In addition to the mountain rescue service, the Dorfgastein fire department was also involved in the search operation.
