Graz: Farewell
The last farewell to a great artist
Numerous celebrities from politics and art, but above all many companions and friends bid farewell to Günter Brus in the Graz Feuerhalle on Friday. The funeral itself will take place in the closest family circle.
Günter Brus, one of the most important artists of our time, gave up his pencil and brushes forever on January 10. On Friday, March 1, friends and acquaintances were able to bid him farewell in the Graz Feuerhalle. And they did so in large numbers.
No big speeches
The family dispensed with an official ceremony with grand speeches, leaving it up to everyone to decide how and when to bid the artist a final farewell.
This was followed by many prominent figures from the world of politics - such as Vice-Chancellor and Art Minister Werner Kogler and Governor Christopher Drexler - and an even larger number of fellow artists with whom Brus had always enjoyed working right up to the end. Numerous friends and companions also expressed their condolences to daughter Diana.
A quiet, dignified farewell
It was a quiet, dignified farewell to one of the greats of the local art scene.
