Obscene gesture: Ronaldo banned and fined
Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned for one match after making a gesture that was deemed obscene. This was announced by the Saudi Arabian Football Association on Wednesday.
Ronaldo had caused a great deal of excitement and criticism in Saudi Arabia. Videos showed the 39-year-old Portuguese gesticulating towards opposing fans and making hand movements in the lumbar region after his team Al-Nassr's 3:2 win against Al Shabab on Sunday.

He had previously briefly put his hand to his ear. Shouts of "Messi" can be heard from the stands in the videos.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) launched an investigation after the incident. Ronaldo, who also has to pay a fine, scored from the penalty spot in the first half of the win and leads the league's top scorers' list with 22 goals. Al Nassr are four points behind Al Hilal in second place in the table.
