Lake Neusiedl: Identity of the body clarified
After a male body was discovered by a fisherman in Lake Neusiedl on Wednesday, the identity has now been clarified. According to the police, it is definitely the ice skater and ex-ORF editor from the district of Baden who has been missing since January 15th.
A fisherman found the body of the 55-year-old on the edge of the reeds between Podersdorf and Illmitz (district of Neusiedl am See). According to police spokesman Helmut Marban, initial investigations have ruled out the possibility of third-party involvement.
Major search operation
The man had not returned home from an ice-skating trip to Rust in mid-January. Since then, a search operation has been underway, initially using skate boats on the ice and later sonar boats in the water.
Drones and helicopters were also used in the search, but initially only the skater's rucksack was found at the end of January.
