Manhunt for father and his two children

Following a fire on Monday afternoon in Vienna Floridsdorf, a search is now underway for a father and his two young children (2 and 5). The family situation has probably been a source of conflict for some time. The man is also said to have been banned from entering the house in the past.

When a 34-year-old woman was informed that neither her husband (33) was at work nor their children (daughter: two, son: five) were at nursery school, she drove home immediately.

Investigation underway
When she noticed smoke in the apartment, she called the emergency services. The Vienna Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire, but no people were found in the apartment.

Conflictual family situation
As a police spokeswoman explained, the Austrian had been banned from entering the apartment in the past. However, this is no longer active. The family situation has probably been conflict-ridden for some time. Divorce proceedings are also said to be pending.

The Vienna State Office of Criminal Investigation, Fire Investigation Division, has taken over the investigation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Due to the circumstances and the unknown whereabouts of the father and the children, an extensive search is currently underway for the three of them.
