Perforated rescue car on St. Stephen’s Square
A Ukrainian ambulance car stands on St. Stephen's Square as a symbol of the war in Ukraine and has numerous bullet holes in it.
Saturday marked the second anniversary of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. As a result, several commemorative events were held in Vienna. Among other things, a Ukrainian rescue car that was damaged by missile attacks was presented as an installation or memorial on St. Stephen's Square, as the organizers, "Unlimited Democracy", explained. It is a memorial to the war in Ukraine.
Destroyed house
Another part of the "Two Worlds of Europe" campaign is the installation of a destroyed house, which represents the destruction of residential buildings in Mariupol. This installation is intended to draw attention to the precarious situation of the residents whose homes were nationalized and the people displaced after the occupation by Russian forces, according to the organizers. The event culminated at 6 pm with a candle-lighting ceremony on Stephansplatz.
