German Bundestag actually releases cannabis

The German Bundestag has approved the controlled release of cannabis in Germany. Possession and cultivation of the drug are to become legal as of April 1, with numerous provisions for adults for personal use, according to a law passed on Friday by the traffic light coalition.

407 MPs voted in favor, 226 against and there were four abstentions. The law is expected to be passed by the Bundesrat on March 22.

The law does not require approval in the Bundesrat. In principle, however, the chamber of the federal states could call on the mediation committee with the Bundestag and slow down the process.
