Third measles patient confirmed in Salzburg
A third case of measles was reported in the province on Tuesday: It is related to the six-year-old who was brought to the children's hospital by his parents with a rash a week ago. It is the boy's one-year-old brother.
The Provincial Health Directorate announced a third case of the contagious measles disease in the province on Tuesday afternoon. It is the little brother of the first case, a six-year-old boy from the city of Salzburg, whose illness became known a week ago. The second case became known on Thursday: A young man from Flachgau (23) had contracted the disease.
Measles is a disease that is accompanied by fever and an itchy rash and manifests itself through coughing, runny nose and inflammation of the nasopharynx. After a few days, the typical rash develops on the face and usually spreads over the whole body. The virus is transmitted via droplet infection.
