Musk does not want to testify before the US Securities and Exchange Commission

The tech billionaire Elon Musk wants a district court to review the order to testify as part of the investigation launched by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against him on the occasion of the 44 billion dollar takeover of the online service Twitter.

According to a court document filed on Thursday, Musk apparently wants to challenge the decision of US District Judge Laurel Beeler, who ordered Musk to testify again as part of the investigation into his acquisition of Twitter, now X.

Last Saturday, she gave the Tesla CEO and the authority one week to agree on a date. The SEC had already announced in October 2023 that it was investigating Musk's purchases of Twitter shares in 2022 as well as his statements and SEC filings in connection with the 44 billion dollar acquisition.

The SEC is investigating whether Musk followed the law when filing the required documents about his purchases of Twitter shares and whether his statements related to the deal were misleading. The billionaire is resisting the investigation and has so far refused to testify. He accuses the authorities of harassment.
