Politician caught?
Tschick am Häusl triggered smoke alarm at the Opera Ball
The Opera Ball went off harmoniously and calmly last Thursday. However, the alarm bells did ring at least once in the evening. As confirmed to the "Krone" by the State Opera press office, burning cigarettes in the men's toilet near the politicians' boxes triggered a brief smoke alarm.
It was all waltzes on the dance floor of the Vienna State Opera last Thursday. Naturally, things also got hot on the political floor at the ballroom event of the year. Apparently so hot, in fact, that high-ranking politicians were forbidden to smoke in the men's toilets and preferred not to go outside at all.
"Fortunately, nothing happened"
"We can confirm that a smoke alarm was triggered in the men's toilet because cigarettes were being smoked there. The company fire department was on site immediately and fortunately nothing happened," says the State Opera press office.
The incident is believed to have occurred in the men's toilet near the politicians' boxes. And according to information from the "Krone", two high-ranking politicians are also said to have been "caught" smoking in flagrante delicto in the men's room. However, the State Opera press office would not comment on this. The people were told to refrain from smoking, they say.
