Fake breeders cram puppies into a small room
Six puppies were illegally offered for sale on the internet. The authorities intervened and the puppies were confiscated. They are now recovering from their ordeal in quarantine.
A couple from the Waldviertel region may have been looking for a quick buck when their female Rottweiler and male Bernese Mountain Dog gave birth to six puppies. They wanted 900 euros each for one of the mini four-legged friends, but at the same time apparently wanted to invest as little as possible.
The puppies, just eight weeks old, were separated from their parents at an early age and kept in a windowless room measuring just five square meters. They were offered for sale on an online platform.
But the illegal breeding was discovered and the puppies were confiscated by the authorities. Because the only 19 kennels in the Krems animal shelter, which are supposed to be sufficient for the entire Waldviertel, were occupied, the colleagues from Baden stepped in.
"Without cooperation between the individual animal shelters, this would not work," emphasize Andrea Specht (Krems) and Gabi Artner (Baden). The dogs are currently in quarantine due to a parasite infestation. They will then look for a home
