Car on the roof
Police officers rescue driver after crash on highway
Spectacular rollover on the Westautobahn near Eggendorf in Upper Austria: a Honda was catapulted over the crash barrier and came to rest completely demolished in a belt of bushes and meadows. Police officers discovered the wreck during a patrol and rescued the injured driver.
Shortly after 9 a.m., the Sattledt fire department received the alarm: person rescued after accident! Witnesses had observed the accident and raised the alarm, as the car was lying on its roof off the highway and the driver was apparently trapped.
However, the driver from Sipbachzell had already been freed by the time the Florianijünger arrived - police officers had been the first helpers on the scene, had accidentally discovered the wreck, which was lying 60 meters off the road, and had pulled the injured man out of the wreck. The 52-year-old was eventually taken to hospital by the ambulance service.
The car skidded
As it turned out, the car had skidded on the rain-soaked road and collided with an impact absorber. As a result, the car was catapulted into the air, flew over the crash barrier, through bushes and came to rest behind switch cabinets. The fire department had to use a crane to recover the car, which was lying on its roof.
