Residential building fire triggers large-scale operation in Seewinkel

Fire alarm in Frauenkirchen in Burgenland: flames in a residential building left a trail of devastation in their wake. The cause of the fire is still unclear. No one was injured.

At around 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Frauenkirchen fire department received a report that a fire was raging in a residential building. When the emergency services arrived, dark columns of smoke several meters high could already be seen. The fire department immediately checked whether there were any occupants in the building - fortunately, the mother and daughter were able to get to safety in time.

Four fire departments extinguished the house fire
The alarm level was raised and the fire departments from Mönchhof, Halbturn and Wallern rushed to help. The firefighters launched an extinguishing attack using heavy breathing apparatus. After the fire was contained, the roof truss was searched for embers using a thermal imaging camera and the all-clear was soon given. The fire was completely extinguished at 3.33 pm.

There was enormous damage throughout the house. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
