Old farmer (74) killed by uprooted tree

An old farmer was fatally injured on Tuesday afternoon during forestry work in his forest in Rainbach im Mühlkreis. The man had been felling trees alone. As a result of strong winds, a tree suddenly fell and hit him. The 75-year-old was probably killed instantly. His wife found the body.

As a result of strong gusts of wind, a 20-meter-long tree was suddenly uprooted and fell over. The pensioner was unable to get out of the way and was hit on the head by the top of the tree. Unfortunately, there was no rescue for the old farmer, he was probably killed instantly.

His wife was worried
At around 1.30 p.m., his worried wife went to check the forest and found her husband's body lying on the ground under the trunk. She raised the alarm, but attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful. The shocked widow had to be cared for by the Red Cross crisis intervention team.
