Case against Greta Thunberg dropped

A trial against Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has been dropped in London. The prosecution had accused the 21-year-old and four co-defendants of disturbing public order. 

They had been temporarily arrested in October 2023 during a demonstration against a meeting of energy managers in the British capital. Thunberg and the other demonstrators - two members each of the Greenpeace and Fossil Free London organizations - are said to have refused to allow access to the conference hotel.

Conditions imposed by police too unclear according to judge
However, the allegations have now been dismissed by the judge. On the second day of the trial, he said that the conditions imposed on the demonstrators by the police were "so unclear that they are unlawful".

It was therefore not a criminal offense not to comply with the requirements, the judge said, as the British news agency PA reported from the courtroom.
