The Ferlach-Maria Rain Drau power plant has been supplying electricity to thousands of Carinthian households for half a century now. The "Krone" goes on a journey through time and spoke to a contemporary witness who helped build the power plant.

The ten run-of-river power plants along the Drau cover around 42 percent of Carinthia's electricity needs. And with an annual production of 318 gigawatt hours, the Ferlach-Maria Rain power plant contributes a considerable share. However, it is not only the output of the run-of-river power plant itself that is impressive, but also the construction itself.
