Felled tree crashed into car during timber work

There was an accident in East Tyrol on Monday - two forestry workers were carrying out woodwork when a tree slipped and crashed into the car of a 23-year-old woman. 

On Monday afternoon, a 23-year-old woman was driving her car from Außervillgraten towards Heinfels. Suddenly, her car was hit by a tree that had fallen onto the road from the left. 

Passers-by rushed to help
The driver was injured to an indeterminate degree in the incident and was trapped in the vehicle. Passers-by who witnessed the accident immediately rushed to help and were eventually able to free the young woman from her car. The emergency services were quickly on the scene, administered first aid and took the injured woman to the Lienz district hospital for further treatment.

Tree slipped away during woodwork
Initial investigations by the police revealed that a 46-year-old man and a 44-year-old Romanian citizen were working above the accident site on logging work in steep terrain. During this work, a felled tree came loose and slid in the direction of Villgratentalstraße, where it finally collided with the Austrian woman's car.

"Once the investigation has been completed, a report will be made to the relevant authorities," report the officials.
