Politician overtakes her former home party

The "Together for St. Egyden" group in the district of Neunkirchen is delighted. In the municipal council elections, the list led by former ÖVP deputy mayor Christa Tisch won seven seats at the first attempt. 

Just as many as the mayor's party, the ÖVP, lost. The latter now only holds six. This means that Tisch could win the mayoral post with the help of the SPÖ or the FPÖ.

"We have already spoken to the FPÖ and SPÖ," explains list spokesperson Stefan Wagner. And both have pledged their support. There were some disagreements with the FPÖ during the election campaign. "If they hurt us personally, then they are sorry," says Wagner, explaining that the dust has now settled.

And with the ÖVP? A meeting has been scheduled for next week. "We'll see who's left in the party," says Wagner. 

What are the first projects on the agenda? "Finances, because the focus is on saving money," says Wagner. "We will review every expense and all current loans and rental agreements and see whether everything is covering costs."
