Tractor thieves had to give up after a few meters

On Sunday night, previously unknown perpetrators attempted to steal a tractor from a company site in Feldbach (Styria). The theft was unsuccessful and a suspected perpetrator's vehicle was recovered.

At around midnight, one or more previously unknown perpetrators cut through the fence to the premises of an agricultural machinery market and gained access to the company premises. There, the strangers manipulated the electronics of a parked tractor and drove it off the company premises.

However, for reasons as yet unknown, the tractor, worth several tens of thousands of euros, came to a halt after a few meters on the Bundesstraße 68 and had to be left behind by the perpetrators.

Romanian crashed vehicle discovered
The tractor and the fencing of the company premises were damaged as a result of the crime. A crashed vehicle with Romanian license plates was found in the vicinity of the crime scene, which could be connected to the crime. The car was recovered by the fire department and seized by the public prosecutor's office in Graz. The investigation and manhunt for the unknown perpetrators is ongoing.
