Inspection revealed:

Truck drivers tricked out tachographs every day

During an inspection of a truck on the Inntal highway, driven by two drivers from Zimbabwe, the police uncovered numerous defects. The two men had to pay a high security deposit. 

At around 9 a.m. on Saturday, officers from the Tyrol Provincial Traffic Department carried out heavy goods vehicle checks on the Inntal freeway in the municipality of Radfeld. Two professional drivers from Zimbabwe (39 and 53 years old) were subjected to a routine driving and rest period check.

Driving a truck without a driver card
It was discovered that both drivers removed their driver cards from the tachograph every day, continued to drive the articulated vehicle without the driver card inserted and then booked rest periods on the driver card. Both drivers have confessed and will be reported to the Innsbruck public prosecutor's office on suspicion of falsifying evidence.

High security deposit
In addition, both drivers were reported to the Kufstein District Court for a number of administrative offenses. A security deposit totaling a high five-digit euro amount was collected from both drivers.
