Eight dead in fire at Serbian retirement home

Eight people have died in a fire in a retirement home in a Belgrade suburb. The fire broke out at around 3.30 a.m. on Monday night.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the cause of the fire was initially unclear. According to media reports, it could have been arson. The retirement home in the Belgrade suburb of Barajevo is said to have fulfilled all the necessary official operating licenses.

Eight people died in the fire, which broke out at around 3.30 a.m. on Monday. Seven others were taken to hospital with injuries. 13 residents of the home escaped unharmed.
